Bioinformatics is the analysis of biological information with computer technology. Extensive databases are compiled based on data gathered from biochemical analysis of gene sequences, proteins, and amino acids. This can be undertaken in molecular genetics, genomics, or computational molecular biology. Additionally, three-dimensional modeling of biomolecules and biologic systems is an application of bioinformatics.
