Phenomena which exhibit qualities that can be very reliably claimed as having intelligence involved in their causal history.

Retrodiction

Retrodiction is the act of making a prediction about what science may find while looking at evidence from the past. This is especially useful when testing a theory whose actual predictions are too long-term to be of use while investigating present phenomena. For example, retrodiction is used to test a theory by 'predicting' facts about the past from facts about the present. These 'predictions' can then be compared with past data. Also, a retrodictive theory can be used to present possible data concerning the more distant past in order to predict a possible event in the less distant past.
